Good for most ages you won't be disappointed by all there is to be offered here. A park with pavilions and picnic tables, swings, slides, etc., basketball and open field baseball areas, kiddie playground, restrooms. Then there's the gift shop and "Jelly Bucket" lunch shop for quick eats. Next is a ride around the mountain for a brief tour and explanation of bootleg and excavation (strip) mining where staff can field questions and photographs can be taken while you stretch your legs. Then it's back to the tunnel where you've the option to go inside and experience underground mining with well versed staff to answer questions. Take a jacket as it's about 50 degrees inside. If that's not enough there's the mining museum nearby too. Most pricing is reasonable. Pack a lunch and spend the day with family. Very young children may not take to the tunnel. Check with the park office for questions. Stays busy in summer and school trips, especially on weekends. Group tours "after-season" can be arranged by calling ahead. Upgrades and refurbishments are year round.

I have taken this two or three times. I'll probably go back and take it another three times. It's great and they do a good job. I'm not a big fan of the steam train ride that was boring but the train itself was very interesting

The Tour's here were excellent... The guides were great.. Informative and funny... And the gift shop and kitchen people were so nice and helpful.... If your in the Ashland area this is a must see. This is a good piece of history that you gotta see.

Very nice day trip. My 7 yr old grandson and I went and had a nice time. Educational, good tour guides. Food was fresh and tasty. Would definitely recommend this place. Also they have a nice playground and picnic area. Souvenir prices are very reasonable.

Great for both old and young. It gives a fun train ride plus shows history of this town all at the same time. Has a great little gift shop. Parking is close. There is also a playground and even a few covered pavilions for picnics.
